December 10

The homework is worksheet 8-6, questions 1-11 and worksheet 8-7, questions 1-6. The other questions are extra credit if the students choose to do them. 

December 9

The homework tonight is worksheet 8-5, all 11 problems about the types of triangles. Don't forget about the can food and brand new toy drive that ends this Thursday so keep bringing donations!!

December 5

The homework tonight is worksheet 8-2. The first six problems the students will need a protractor so we will finish those 6 questions at the beginning of class tomorrow, unless they have their own protractor at home that they can use. Questions 7-11 they can do without a protractor so they need to have those answered for tomorrow. 

December 4

The homework tonight is worksheet 11-2 and it is only the front side. Also, we are still accepting can food or brand new toys for children 7 & 8 years old. They have to be new toys if you decide to donate. The competition ends next week so keep bringing in items!

December 3

The homework tonight is for students to study for the integers quiz tomorrow. We did a review in class today so they should have that to study. They will need to know how to add, subtract, multiply and divide integers for the quiz tomorrow. 

Also, the can food drive is still going on until next week. Students are competing to see which grade level brings the most cans or brand new toys to school to donate. The deadline is next week so keep bring either food or toys!

December 2

The homework tonight is worksheet pg. 97, questions 1-21 and pg. 98, questions 1-15. Many students finished during class but some did not finish so they need to finish for homework. 

November 25

Today in class the students took notes on how to add integers. We then did some practice problems using math manipulatives. Tomorrow they will be learning how to subtract integers and next week they will learn how to multiply and divide integers. There was no homework tonight and their will not be any tomorrow. I hope everyone has a restful and relaxing time during Thanksgiving. 

November 21

The homework tonight is worksheet 5-10, solving fraction equations and students are to do questions 1-12. Below I have posted a video to help understand how to solve these because it is a hard concept to learn and many students have trouble learning it today.

November 20

There is no homework tonight because students worked on test corrections during class today. Every student did corrections this time because grades were so low that I have every student correct the questions they missed. The only homework students would have is if they are missing any homework from earlier this week.

November 19

The homework tonight is called multiplication and division equations and be sure to work your work for each problem.

November 18

Homework tonight is addition and subtraction equations worksheet. Be sure to show your work.

Week of November 11-15

The students will be benchmark testing in the mornings and doing boot camp work in the afternoon so no homework this week.

November 5

The homework is worksheet 7-9, just the even problems. There will be a test review tomorrow and the test will be on Thursday. Also, all work is due on Friday for the end of the six weeks.

November 4

Homework tonight is worksheet 7-5. Also, some students have test corrections due tomorrow because they did not follow directions the first time we did test corrections so they have one more day to help their grade. All grades are due this Friday, November 8. The students will also have a math test on Thursday.

October 30

The homework for tonight is worksheet 7-2, which deals with finding equivalent ratios. Many students finished in class and have already turned it in. Also, the six weeks ends next Friday, November 8th and many students still have missing work so they have a little over a week to get everything turned in. 

October 24

All the students worked on test corrections today and missing work so the only homework they would have is their missing work. They will not have homework tomorrow because I will not be at school. 

October 23

HW: worksheet 2-1, which is the back of last night's homework. Many students were able to finish during class. On Thursday, every student will work on test corrections from last week because many students did not do well on the test.

Unit 3 Review

October 16

HW: worksheet 7-10 and students choose 5 problems to complete. Also, the homework from yesterday, WS 5-5, is now due on Friday because many students had trouble with it so I am extending the due date to Friday, October 18. Tomorrow we will be doing a review over Unit 3 and Friday there will be a math test. I will post some practice question tonight.

October 15

HW: worksheet 5-5. The last 2 problems are for extra credit. Also, the students will have a math test on this Friday, October 11. 

October 10

The only homework over the weekend is for students who need to do test corrections because those will be due on Tuesday, when they return to school. Their next test will be next week on Friday, October 18 and we will do a test review on Thursday. Have a great long weekend!

 

October 9

Unit 2 Test

I have attached a copy of the test for students who need to do test corrections. The corrections were supposed to be due Thursday, but since many students forgot, the corrections will be due on Tuesday, October 15. They will need to correct the questions that they got incorrect by showing their work and their new answer on a separate sheet of paper. Once they finish, they will staple their corrections to their original paper and turn them in. 

Also, their homework tonight is worksheet 5-3 and they are only doing the odd questions. Below is a video on how to add and subtract unlike denominators.

 

October 8

HW: worksheet 4-9, about estimating fractions and then adding or subtracting. The last 4 problems are extra credit but I would encourage the students to try and answer them. 

Also, test corrections will be due this Thursday, the 10th. The students have had a week to work on test corrections and Thursday will be the last day.

Here is a video on how to subtract a whole number and a fraction. The only way to add or subtract fractions are if the denominators, the bottom numbers, are the same.The homework for tonight is worksheet 4-8, which deals with adding and subtracting whole numbers and fractions. The students are to do problems 1-19 and number 20 is for extra credit if students want to attempt the problem.

October 4

The students have homework over the weekend and it is worksheet 3-9 which deals with solving equations with decimals. Below I have posted a video that helps explain how to solve these equations.

October 3

No homework tonight due to the students working on the writing process during the morning.

October 2

Homework tonight is worksheet 3-2, which deals with estimating decimals. Tomorrow in the morning the students will be doing a writing boot camp, and that is where the students will work on writing in each class until lunch, and then after lunch will be normal schedule.

October 1

Today we spent time for the students to do test corrections, and if they didn't finish, then they were to write the questions down so they can finish them at home. The test corrections will be due in a week. Also, we learned about estimating whole numbers and their homework tonight is worksheet 1-2.

The students homework tonight is using order of operations. The students learned about PEMDAS today in class which stands for:

There is no homework tonight due to the fact that the students are taking a Universal Screener test in class today and tomorrow. The students will take this test 2 more times during the year so we can track how they are progressing on their math skills.

For homework, the students have a worksheet called Prime Factorization, which deals with doing a factor tree and their answers have to be using exponents. 

September 16

For homework, the students are to complete worksheet 4-1, about divisible and prime and composite numbers. 

Math Test Tomorrow

The students worked on a test review today in class and for homework they are to study their review and also their notebook, if they decided to take it home. I have attached pictures of the review sheet below.

September 11

The homework for tonight is to finish their Modeling Percent Project because it is due tomorrow. They are to color their grid, write the percents and then write the fractions. May sure to simplify each of your fractions if you can. This will be the students first test grade.

September 10

The homework for tonight is a worksheet called integer practice, and students also need to have a design on their graph paper for their project. Tomorrow they will receive a final copy for their project where they can color their design and fill in the percent and fractions. Each student only gets one copy of the paper so they need to make sure have one already created so that they don't mess up. 

September 9, 2013

For homework tonight, the students need to complete worksheet 7-8 about fractions, decimals and percents. Also, the students received information about a math project. The students are to come up with their own design and color for a grid with 100 squares. Each student received a piece of graph paper today to begin working on a design and color scheme. They need to have a design picked by Wednesday because on Wednesday they will receive the worksheet where they can color their final project onto. Once it is colored, they will need to find the fraction for each color and also the percent. The final project is due on Thursday, and it will count as a test grade. Below is a link of the final worksheet that students will turn in. There will also be a math test this Friday, September 13.

Today in class we went over the rules and expectations for class. We also set up our notebooks for those students who had a notebook ready. If you didn't have a notebook today, please bring one tomorrow and I can get you caught up. Tomorrow we will continue to set up the notebooks and will move on to the first math lesson.
